The purpose of this investigation was to determine if periodontal disease in pregnants women is a risk factor to preterm births. For this study a periodontal exam was performed on all one- hundred twenty patients who were divided in two groups: one named cases with sixty preterm postpartum patients and the other one named control with sixty term pregnant who assits to the Hospital Nacional Docente Madre-Niño "San Bartolomé" in the year 2001. The were significant differences between the two group in two aspects. Clinically, the cases group had worse periodontal disease then the control group. Finally, it was determined that periodontal disease during pregnancy is an important risk factor.

The diagnosis and treatmnet of the periodontal disease must be an objetive in the dental practice. To reach this purpose, the patient must have high motivation and the dentist must work in the maintenance periodontal therapy; this leads to have healthy periodontal tissue- specially the bone- for ever and the teeth also.

The needs of the dental treatment in the patients foroud a mutidiscipling work. It report a clinical case of one patient who exhibilidad a advanced periodontal disease, whith migration of the anterior upper teeth after the periodontal treatment (Motivation oral periodontal hygienic, root planning, periodontal autologos bore injerto it mode the orthodontic in the anterior upper tooth. Finally the patient recivea a bridge in the upper segment.
