ABSTRACT The present investigation came true with the nursing staff that labors in the service of hospitalization in Huamachuco's Hospital Leoncio Prado. The purpose was determining the relation between the age, time of work experience, self-esteem and familiar functioning with the degree of empathy of the nursing staff in the hospitalized patient's care. Using descriptive guy's fact-finding design correlacional prepared an intervening collection of data the 4-instrument application: Questionnaire to identify factors psicosociales and labor, Escala of level of self-esteem, Familiar Funcionamiento's and Escala's Escala of degree of empathy. For the statistical analysis liked Chi's proof was used, getting to the following conclusions: Empathy is correlated of positive way with the age, self-esteem, time of work experience and familiar functioning.
