Currently, education relies more than ever on the developing of competence-based learning. The progress and demands of today's society poses the need of training professionals that are capable of responding to the 21st century challenges, jobs, social and personal expectations. This article is the result of a documentary analysis of different authors, and experts in the field of teaching by competences. The COVID-19 crisis has wounded society in different areas, such as social, economic, but particularly, the educational field as a result, of the great economic inequality of social groups in the face of the educational process and, particularly, access to technology. La presente investigación tuvo como objetivo establecer los cambios en algunas variables que influyen en la conducta de estudio (motivación, uso de estrategias de aprendizaje, estilo atribucional y funciones ejecutivas) a partir de la estrategia conocida como «pruebas de práctica» en una muestra de estudiantes universitarios.
