The high transmissibility of the etiological agent SARS-CoV-2, led the dentist to be the health professional with the highest risk of contagion due to the face-to-face consultation where he is in contact with saliva and blood in addition to the use of aerosols. This has led to the use of technology and telecommunications as a tool for a remote consultation, being known as Teleodontology. The search criteria for scientific articles in electronic format have been based on publication time, presence of DOI, no language is excluded; obtained from sources such as PubMed, SciElo, Google Scholar. Carrying out the search in July 2020. In Peru, 70% of infections in dentists were during the face-to-face consultation, the legal and ethical aspect leads to distrust of carrying out a teleconsultation. This research work provides recommendations from the reason for consultation, inform...

COVID-19 is a communicable disease caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS-COV-2). The oral cavity is a route of entry for SARS-COV-2. Oral epithelial cells, taste buds, and glands play an important role as they express cellular entry factors for SARS-COV-2, such as angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 (ACE2) and type 2 transmembrane serine protease (TMPRSS2).Oropharyngeal manifestations were found in the oral cavity, mainly in the tongue and hard palate. In mild cases, the use of alcohol-free mouthwash Chlorhexidine 0.12%, antibiotic therapy, and in severe cases photobiomodulation therapy was indicated, in other cases the lesions disappeared as the disease subsided. The virus can be detected in saliva, even before symptoms of COVID-19 appear. Reducing oral viral load could lead to a lower risk of transmission mainly through salivary droplets or aerosols. The use of mouthwashes...

Objectives: To determine the antifungal activity of two essential oils (EO), the EO of Cinnamomum zeylanicum (C. zeylanicum) at 100% and the EO Minthostachys mollis (M. mollis) at 100% on the strain of Candida albicans (C. albicans) ATCC 10231. Materials and Methods: The sample consisted of 45 cultures of C. albicans ATCC 10231 strains, divided into three groups: group 1: 100% C. zeylanicum EO, nystatin 100 000 IU/ml (positive control), sterile distilled water (negative control), group 2: 100% M. mollis EO, nystatin 100 000 IU/ml (positive control), sterile distilled water (negative control), and group 3: the combination of both essential oils and the corresponding positive and negative control used. The formation of growth inhibition halos was evaluated in millimeters. The Duraffourd scale was used to establish the sensitivity after 48 hours of incubation. Results: The 100% C. zeylanicu...

The evolutionary process of the SARS-CoV2 disease identified as COVID-19, is related to the oral cavity and the high percentage of pathogenicity in the throat the first 5-6 days. The transmission of the virus takes place through the inhalation of nanoparticles from the air through expectorations, sneezing or saliva, with high viral loads in infected individuals as well as in infected asymptomatic patients; oral transmission of SARS_CoV2 being at high risk. The proposal of the use of mouthwashes in preventive dentistry is to inactivate or decrease the viral load of SARS-CoV2 in the oral cavity of infected patients and reduce its transmission at the time of receiving dental care. The purpose of this article is to assess and know the best alternative to mouthwash through scientific research this year. Con...

The emergence of the coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19) reform a new global strategy for world health and life. Its detection or premature diagnosis has become vital to be able to control its dynamics as a pandemic. This virus is transmitted from human to human through droplets and direct contact with the oral, nasal and ocular mucous membranes, even some studies suggest that it can be airborne through aerosols. This fact encourages epidemiological and clinical researchers to establish highly sensitive case definitions to track all true positive cases; therefore, there is emerging evidence of oral lesions that may be indicative of viral pathology. The purpose of this review article is to provide documentary support that aims to raise awareness among dental professionals that a careful orofacial examination is mandatory, especially when dealing with suspected patients infected with SARS-CoV-2 or...

The article presents various protection options and considerations to take into account in dental care in order to prevent and avoid contagion risks. Covid-19 is the virus that according to WHO reports affects the largest number of humans in recent years. months. During this time, dental emergencies and emergencies have been attended that lead to reviewing much stricter biosafety protocols. In Peru, dental care has already been restarted with biosafety protocols established by the Ministry of Health-Minsa, for safe dental care. The objective of this article is to review different protocols and compare the opinions of authors regarding the measures that must be taken into account in this new reality for optimal protection in dental care and for the control of the health of workers and patients. against a probable exposure to covid-19.
