Chinese immigration to Cuba has a history of over 150 years. Under the influence of these migrants, the Cuban community has inherited some elements of this culture to some extent. Over time, the Chinesetraditions and customs have been incorporated into the island of Cuba, forming part of its multicultural identity. In this paper, from a sociocultural perspective, we present an analysis about the Chinese community in Cuba from the 19th century to 1959, and explore some prominent traces in the following seven aspects: cuisine, medicine, religion, festivals, music, sports and games of chance, as well as their roles in the formation of the local identity in the Cuban society. La presente obra, escrita por Zhuocai Huang ( 黄 卓才), es una versión española traducida del libro chino titulado Hóngyàn fēiyuè jiālèbǐ, gǔbā huáqiáo jiāshū jìshì 鸿雁飞越加勒比——古巴华侨 家书纪事 (2016, [versión revisada]). La versión española fue traducida por Tianci Zhang (张天慈) publicada por la editorial Prensas de la Universidad de Zaragoza. Se trata de literatura epistolar, consiste en una narración emotiva basándose en las 45 cartas familiares escritas por el padre del autor entre 1952 y 1975, enviadas desde Cuba.
