Patients with diabetes mellitus are 10 times more possibilities to suffer non-traumatic amputation than the non-diabetic population. 30% of diabetic patients with major amputation of the lower limb die in the first year after the intervention and 50% undergo an amputation of the other lower limb in only 5 years later. Objective: To determine if peripheral arterial disease is a risk factor for major amputation by foot ulcer in diabetic patients treated at Hospital Belén de Trujillo during the 2007-2017 period.
