Upper gastrointestinal bleeding is one of the most common gastrointestinal presentations observed in emergency services and represents more than 500,000 hospital admissions per year. Sometimes it is difficult to clinically differentiate the location of the bleeding. For this reason, the present work aims to determine the predictive value of the urea/creatinine index and upper gastrointestinal bleeding in patients treated at the Loreto Regional Hospital, 2019. A sample of 170 patients was taken, 85 with upper gastrointestinal bleeding and 85 with gastrointestinal bleeding. short. Concluding that the urea/creatinine index presented an area under the curve value of 0.917 with an optimal cut-off point of 60.85, which corresponds to a sensitivity of 94.1%, specificity of 81.2%, positive predictive value of 83.3% and negative predictive value. of 93.2%.
