BACKGROUND: The standard 18F-FDG PET/CT diagnostic test is normally indicated for cancer patients. Constant intravenous administration of 18F-FDG, a radiopharmaceutical with an energy of 511kev. At the end of the study, the dose rate is measured in the patients and after the act, the patients are discharged. There is no evidence if the amount of dose rate with which patients complete their PET / CT studies can generate any kind of effect (stochastic or deterministic) to the people who interact with the patient when leaving the nuclear medicine service. OBJECTIVE: To determine the patient dose rate at the end of a standard 18F-FDG PET / CT study. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Cross-sectional observational study that evaluated a population of 138 adult patients who met the inclusion criteria.
