The present study aimed to describe the levels of stress, depression and anxiety in workers at a university in northern Chile, in the context of Covid-19. Likewise, it sought to establish the relationship of this symptomatology with exhaustion and work overload, in addition to various sociodemographic and work variables. The results show the presence of stress in 55.7% of the employees, depression in 26% of them and anxiety in 29.2%. The highest rates of stress are observed in women, academics, those under 40 years of age, and in contract workers. The adjustment of a predictive model was empirically verified to show that the perceived work overload allows to explain the work burnout, and, in turn, this variable predicts the stress evidenced by the University workers. It concludes by analyzing the implications of the results in the management of higher education institutions, considering ...

Introduction: The UWES is one of the most widely used instruments in the world to measure academic engagement. Objective: The objective of this study was to describe and compare the psychometric properties of the UWES 17S and the UWES 9S in Chilean university students. Method: 541 students from a Chilean university participated, who voluntarily entered the indicated instruments. 61.6% of them were in the first year and 38.4% were at higher levels. Results: When comparing seven structural models, the best fit indicators were found in the UWES 9S according to a three-factor model and a bifactor model (X2/df=2.316; CFI=.977; TLI=.952; RMSEA=.071). The UWES 9S showed McDonald’s ω reliability indicators between .67 and .83 in its three factors, also demonstrating the invariance of its three-factor structure according to sex and at different levels of study. Discussion: It is concluded that...

Background: Perceived stress refers to the degree to which people perceive the demands of their environment as unpredictable and uncontrollable. The PSS-14 and PSS- 10 scales are the most widely used instruments worldwide to assess this construct. Objective: To describe the psychometric properties of the EEP 14 and 10 items in Chilean teachers, and to investigate the structural invariance of its models according to teachers’ gender Method: An instrumental study was carried out in a sample of 206 teachers. Results: Confirmatory factor analysis, using a robust maximum likelihood (MLR) method, showed the best fit indicators in the models of two related factors: in the PSS-14 (X2 = 166.693, df = 76, p < .001; CFI = .918; TLI = .901; RMSEA = .076) and in the PSS-10 (X2 = 59.979, df = 34, p < .001; CFI = .968; TLI = .957; RMSEA = .061). The McDonald’s ω coefficients were favorable f...

The present instrumental study aimed to describe the psychometric properties of the Coping with Pre-Exam Anxiety and Uncertainty Scale (COPEAU-A) in Chilean university students. 230 first-year students from a university in the north of Chile participated, where 67,4% were women and 32.6% men, with an average age of 18,9 years. By confirmatory factor analysis, using a robust weighted least squares method (WLSMV), five models were compared, finding the best fit indicators in the composite of four oblique factors with 20 ítems (X2=228,795, gl=164, p<,01; X2/gl=1,395; TLI=,929; CFI=,939; RMSEA=,042). The reliability of the four factors was adequate, showing McDonald's Omega coefficients between ω=,716 and ω=,873. In turn, the results showed the factorial invariance of the instrument according to sex. It is concluded that the psychometric properties of COPEAU-A would support its use to ...

Introduction: The Maslach Burnout Inventory-Student Survey (MBI SS) is one of the most recognized instruments worldwide to assess burnout in the student population. Objective: To estimate the psychometric properties of the Maslach Burnout Inventory Student Survey (MBI-SS) in Chilean and Spanish university students. Method: An instrumental study was carried out in a non-probabilistic sample by quotas in 103 Chilean university students and 104 Spanish students. A confirmatory factorial analysis was performed, the reliability of the instrument and its factorial invariance for the Spanish and Chilean samples were analyzed. Results: The results confirm its three-factor factor structure and show that the instrument has adequate reliability and factor invariance in its proposed 12-item version. Discussion: It is concluded that this instrument and its psychometric properties allow the evaluation...
