The work highlights the importance of optimal use of energy inputs in industrial activity, such as a need for international and national competitiveness. Fuel economy is quantified annually and the economic benefit that companies fail to recover the energy of the purges in the operation of a steam generator is checked. A real case is discussed in order to validate the aforementioned items.

El trabajo resalta la importancia del uso óptimo de los insumos energéticos en la actividad industrial, como una necesidad de competitividad internacional y nacional. El ahorro de combustible es cuantificado anualmente y se comprueba el beneficio económico que logran las empresas, al recuperar la energía de las purgas en la operación de un generador de vapor. Un caso real es discutido con el propósito de convalidar los conceptos señalados.

This paper focuses on the best use of energetic resources on industrial activity, according to the international and national need of competitiveness. Annually, a quantification of fuel savings is made and the economic benefit accomplished by the companies is checked.
