Anemia is a clinical fact and not a diagnostic entity, it is not a physiological phenomenon typical of old age, but a pathological entity, and one of the main causes of death in the world population, constituting one of the most serious nutritional problems in the world. This study has the objective of determining the incidence of anemia in the adult population hospitalized in the medicine service of the contingency hospital of Tingo María. Carried out during the months of March to August del 2021, 243 cases were studied. An incidence of anemia of 28.4% (69 cases) was found, being more prevalentg in the gfemale sex.
