Este capítulo caracteriza desde una perspectiva de género a las familias de los y las jóvenes venezolanas que participaron del estudio, y su posible necesidad de reunificación (parejas, hijos, hijas, madres, padres, etc.). Para ello, la autora revisa la definición de familia como un fenómeno dinámico cuyas formas de organización son diversas y se encuentran al amparo del marco político normativo. De acuerdo con la Constitución peruana de 1993, el Estado protege a la familia y, por tanto, las políticas y el marco normativo deben responder a las necesidades de los diversos tipos de familia. In Peru, the ratification of “The Convention on the Elimination of all forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW)” that takes place in the beginnings of the 80’s is part of a transition process not only in the political front, but also between two generations of women activists. One of which was represented by a group of professionals called to take an active role in the political front, women such as former deputy and first PUCP woman lawyer, Matilde Pérez Palacio as well as other founders of NGO’s focused on child protection and abandoned mothers, such as María Vita de Alvarez. Prestigious group of professionals linked to “Consejo Nacional de Mujeres”, founded in 1923, such as Sara Pérez Palacio, or Olga Paredes Lañas de De Olarte, just to name a few. In this article, the authors analyze the response of the Peruvian State through the implementation of public policies with the aim of counteracting violence against women and members of the family group, triggered by the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. Initially, the authors study the measures taken immediately by the Peruvian State during the start of the pandemic and place them in the Latin American context through a comparative perspective. Secondly, these measures are analyzed in detail in order to evaluate the limits and success in the effective implementation of said policies during the first year of the pandemic.
