In recent years, the barbados nut (Jatropha curcas) has begun to attract more interest in the San Martf n region, beca use it is an important source of energy (biodiesel) thatcould replace oil in the near futura. The introduction of the barbados nut as a crop in the San Martin region is new, therefore, problems of pests, diseases, soil, etc., will be present.
