A violência política exercida por vinte anos no Peru (1980-2000) gerou consequências na população afetada que ainda não se curaram. A população feminina rural e de língua quíchua foi uma das mais afetadas, pois foram vítimas de violência física, sexual e psicológica. Além disso, as mulheres tinham que cuidar da família e adaptá-la a um novo território. Foi então forjado um papel feminino, que foi consolidado em organizações populares de mulheres líderes e combatentes. Essa situação deu lugar ao incentivo gradual para contar suas histórias de maneiras diferentes. As mulheres de Mama Quilla optaram por uma maneira artesanal e artística de fazê-lo: a arpillería. Conclui-se que as arpilleras podem ser consideradas, efetivamente, como mapas mentais do conflito armado interno, bem como um retrato da paisagem e a memória coletiva dos anos de violência política.

The essay proposes a brief analysis of the emergence of the concept of gentrification and its 'assimilation' in the global south. For this, the importance of the socio-spatial approach as a tool for analyzing the link between the city and those who inhabit it is highlighted. The Anglo-Saxon origin of the concept, which supposes a contextualization to understand it from and in Latin urban contexts, makes interdisciplinary reflection necessary to understand the complexity of the process. In the same way, the conceptual approach of the essay is complemented by the territorial processes and dynamics registered in Latin cities. Some emblematic examples will be taken to help stage how the gentrification process occurs in these spaces.
