This work offers an exploratory approach to the consumption of traditional and digital media and the use of social networks in Argentina, Chile and Uruguay. In the first place, a brief theory is offered that contextualizes the advance of new information technologies. Subsequently, with data from the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and surveys with national probabilistic samples financed by the International Development Research Center (IDRC) of Canada, a descriptive analysis is carried out on the consumption of politicak information and the use of digital social networks. These three countries have high Internet penetration rates, broadband subscriptions and mobile Internet compared to other Latin American countries.
