International trade is an important component of the economic structure and dynamics of countries, especially those that are relatively small, such as Peru and Chile, located in the Southern Hemisphere. These economies can be considered small and open, characterized by their dependence on the mining sector, with similar characteristics in their policies of openness to the international economy, and with an agricultural export sector well positioned in international spheres. Regarding the latter, Peru ranks fifth in the world ranking of fresh fruit exports and leads the growth of this item through 2006-2022. Due to the dynamism of this segment, this case study analyzes the incidence of world economic variables on fresh fruit exports, both in Peru and Chile.
