Endocrine emergencies such as thyroid storm and diabetic ketoacidosis should be considered life-threatening disease processes in the obstetric population. Diagnosis requires a high clinical suspicion with prompt initiation of treatment, supportive care and intervention. A multidisciplinary team of specialists, including maternal fetal medicine, endocrinology, medical intensivist, neonatologists and anesthesiology should be assembled to achieve the best outcomes for mother and baby.
