Our aim was to search for the psycho pedagogic reasons why students were abandoning the course of French language, from the fifth to the ninth semester of the Professional School of Languages of the National University of San Martin, PERU, South America, in 2008 - l. El presente estudio se desarrolló en la UGEL-San Martín, su objetivo general fue determinar los factores motivacionales que influyen en el nivel de desempeño laboral en el personal, fue descriptivo transversal correlaciona!, cuantitativo. La muestra fue constituida por 87 trabajadores y se aplicó una encuesta sobre motivación con 20 ítems y desempeño laboral con 58 ítems. Se obtuvo que el nivel de motivación del personal resultó alto 70 %, muy alto 24 %; los factores motivacionales presentes fueron el Reto con un nivel de motivación muy alto 56, 3%; la Retroal¡mentación motivación alta 71,3%.
