The study aimed to detect the presence of endoparasites in faecal samples of Trachemys. scripta elegans from private households in the Maule Region, Chile. The sampling was conducted to determine the prevalence of gastrointestinal parasites in 35 individuals (22 females and 13 males), using the Teuscher coproparasitic technique. Only one sample of a female turtle was positive (2.85%), corresponding to an undetermined species of coccidia.

The parrots (Birds: Psitacidae), besides being one of the pets of greater increase in Chile in recent years, are important reservoirs of pathogens, including the zoonotic bacterium Chlamydophila psittaci. The objective of the study was to detect the presence of serum antibodies against C. psittaci in 30 parrots from three private breeding sites in the Biobío Region, through the detection of IgG antibodies by a commercial ELSA kit (ELISA InmunoComb®). Three adult parrots (3/24) were seropositive (10% prevalence) and none of the juveniles (0/6). The positive psitacids corresponded to an austral parakeet (Enicognathus ferrugineus), a slender-billed parakeet (Enicognathus leptorhynchus) and an Amazon parrot (Amazonas pretrei), all from the same hatchery. The first two species are native species of Chile.

Feline chlamydia is a disease caused by Chlamydophila felis, the etiologic agent of feline respiratory complex (FRC) and considered the primary pathogen of conjunctivitis in cats. The objective of the study was to determine the prevalence of the disease in cat patients at a veterinary clinic in the region of Ñuble, Chile, and its association with the variables sex, age group and history of FRC. A blood sample was taken from 60 feline patients who were randomly selected from the total number of registered clinical records. The diagnostic technique used was the immunoenzymatic test ImmunoComb® (sensitivity: 94.7%, specificity: 100%). The seroprevalence of Chlamydophila felis was 51.7% (31/60), with no significant differences by sex, age group, and history of FRC. The results showed the presence of antibodies against Chlamydophila felis in domestic feline patients in the study area.
