La presente investigación tuvo como objetivo analizar la deforestación ocurrida los años 2016 y 2022 en el distrito Castillo Grande, provincia Leoncio Prado, región Huánuco (Perú). Para ello se realizó la clasificación supervisada de imágenes Sentinel-2 en la plataforma Google Earth Engine utilizando tres tipos de algoritmos: Support Vector Machines (SVM), Decision Trees (DT) y Random Forest (RF). Se avaluó el desempeño de los algoritmos utilizados calculando el índice de Kappa y la exactitud global, a partir de ello se estimó la superficie deforestada y la tasa de deforestación de la zona de estudio. Los resultados mostraron que el algoritmo RF obtuvo mejor desempeño con valores de Kappa de 0,85 y 0,90 y una exactitud global de 89,8% y 93,2% para los años 2016 y 2022 respectivamente. The loss of forests is one of the main environmental problems in Peru and in various parts of the world. The present work aims to calculate the forest cover by 2021 within the Leoncio Prado province, located in the Huánuco region, Peru. Sentinel-2 images were used, which were classified on the Google Earth Engine platform using the Random Forest artificial intelligence algorithm. Likewise, the thematic accuracy of the resulting classification was evaluated using high spatial resolution Planet images. As results, it was found that the study area includes 349,811.47 ha, which represents more than 70% of the total area, while the degraded and intervened areas add up to a total of 131,392.12 ha, which come mainly from the change in use of forest to agricultural areas.
