In this work was studied the adsorption of sunset yellow dye with different type of activatedcarbon obtained from vegetable waste. The carbons were characterized by infraredspectroscopy, X-ray diffraction and electron microscopy, obtaining typical results forcarbonaceous materials. Surface areas of activated carbon were determined by nitrogenisotherms. Similarly, dye removal isotherms were evaluated taking into account, contact timeeffect, pH, initial concentration and amount of adsorbent. Corn cob carbons, showed highestremoval percentage with respect at the carbons of coconut husks and rice husks. Langmuir’sisotherm model is adjusted more appropriately to these results. We found that, pseudo secondorder kinetics model describes in good agreement the adsorption of sunset yellow dye withactivated carbons.

In the present work was studied theoretically the chemical reactivity of gold clusters (Aun;n = 4, 5 y 6) and gold-silver clusters (AunAg; n = 4, 5 y 6) at B3LYP/LANL2DZ level oftheory using global and local reactivity descriptors in order to analyze reactive behavior ofthese metallic systems. It was found that the size and doped with silver atom, influence thereactivity of the clusters studied. Also was found that the position of the silver atom in thecluster affects reactivity, being high when this is in the edges of the cluster and low when itoccupies a central position.
