This  paper  analyzes  the  main  obstacles  and  challenges  that  women  face  in  STEM  entrepreneurship  and  gathers  the  results  of  the  research  carried  out  by  the  WISE  Project  (Women  in  STEM  Entrepreneurship),  developed  by  IAE  Business  School  and  BID Lab. Este estudio analiza las principales barreras y desafíos que enfrentan las mujeres a la hora de emprender en áreas STEM y recoge los resultados de la investigación en el marco del Proyecto WISE (Women in STEM Entrepreneurship), desarrollado por el IAE Business School y el BID Lab. La investigación cuantitativa (1100 casos) y cualitativa (40 entrevistas a mujeres líderes de Argentina, Perú, Ecuador y Colombia) identificó las necesidades y motivaciones y relevó expectativas de emprendedoras en áreas STEM en cuatro países de la Región. The balance of work and family is the daily struggle of every person who must satisfy the often-conflicting demands of both spheres of his life. The absence of effective solutions to this problem not only affects the family but also companies through work absenteeism, low productivity, increased stress, among other effects. The working conditions of the future will have to resolve the tensions between old paradigms and new realities and create a culture that reflects the characteristics of the current workforce. To the extent that companies recognize and respond to the family needs of their employees, they will develop strategies to harmonize work and family life. The present study reviews these strategies and their gradual implementation, whose last stage is the creation of a friendly family corporate culture, the only area in which employees can achieve a work-personal balance.

The globalization extends with great speed and complexity, affecting economic, cultural and social order of the countries. This phenomenon can be a great growth opportunity for businesses but in turn, it could become a threat to those who have not developed a strong culture focused on values. In this context, the aim of this article is to reflect on the importance of ethics in globalization and it discusses some initiatives of global ethics codes. The global ethical codes are those that mark the way and the way of doing business so that globalization becomes an instrument for developing countries.

Equilibrar el trabajo y la familia es la lucha diaria de toda persona que debe satisfacer las demandas, a menudo contrapuestas, de ambas esferas de su vida. The various scandals that have shaken the corporate world have shown the need to analyze once again the ethic foundations of the corporation. It is not enough to issue a simple negative judgment; we must learn from failure and reflect on its causes. Why didn’t these companies fulfill theirmissions? What happened to their fundamental values? What happened to the personal convictionsof their general managers, with their vision of the future, with their contributions for the country and the community? Experience shows that it is not enough to merely propose worthy goals, guiding values or policies in favor of the environment and the community.
