Preterm birth occurs between 22 and before 37 weeks; the incidence in Peru varies between 5.6% and 14% of all pregnancies and remains one of the biggest problems of morbidity and infant and maternal mortality. Objective: Determine whether a history of preterm delivery, adolescent maternal age, anemia and infection pathways are risk factors for the development of preterm delivery in pregnant women at the Bethlehem Hospital of Trujillo, January 2009-December 2013. Material and Method: An observational, retrospective case-control study, the January 1, 2009 to December 31, 2013 was performed. Cases: 285 pregnant women who completed their pregnancy between 22 weeks and before 37 weeks. Controls: 285 pregnant women who completed their pregnancy between 37 weeks and 41 weeks 6 days. Obesity is an epidemic, and childhood obesity is the great public health problem of the 21st century whose prevalence is increasing alarmingly in developed countries; however, this has not become alien to our reality as a third world country, this chronic disease favors the early onset of chronic pathologies such as cardiovascular and endocrine diseases and maintains its prevalence in adulthood.
