El presente artículo esboza la compleja relación entre la modernidad y la postmodernidad y el surgimiento de nuevos paradigmas de vida. Se pretende en primer lugar hacer un análisis de la etapa de la modernidad y su influencia en todos los campos de la actividad humana, luego se presenta el tránsito desde la esfera puramente racional, que orienta todas las actividades del ser humano hasta llegar a un racionalismo. Se aborda también la postmodernidad como un período crítico de la historia, por las consecuencias que trae consigo tales como la desconfianza, la incertidumbre, perplejidad, etc. que se hacen presentes en toda la actividad del hombre.

In this article, the author reflects on the exhortation Evangelii Gaudium, considering the fundamental and important aspects of this document. To this end, he examines the five cores having such exhortation. Similarly, the Pope’s concern on evangelization and the proclamation of Jesus Christ, aspects to be transmitted with the joy of being a believer and with a personal experience with Jesus Christ is emphasized.

This article is a thoughtful exegesis on “The beatitude of the poor” within the social Latin American context, and specifically of Peru. This in sight may worry because of the socio-economic, cultural, and political situation we live in, where the reality of the poor seems to question and thus undermine the relevance of any approximation that is purely “thematic”. The analysis and insights presented herein are not intended to seek a solution to such complex and real problem.The purpose is primarily one of exegetical character: to understand the message of a text written many years ago –in a socio-cultural environment that is very different from ours –but with a content that is still current for its provocative and puzzling nature, considering that no exegesis can bed one without understanding the text with in the reality one lives in.
