El presente trabajo surge ante la necesidad de encontrar alternativas que permitan usar el escaso recurso hídrico para las asociaciones ganaderas ubicadas dentro de los linderos del desierto de Sechura y de la Comunidad Campesina San juan Bautista de Catacaos. Por ello se determinó la posibilidad técnica y económica de poder usar el agua existente en las norias o pozos artesanales subterráneos que hacen estos ganaderos sabiendo que el 50 % de éstas contienen aguas salobres o amargas no aptas para la ganadería. Se hizo el estudio comparativo de cuatro modelos de destiladores solares durante los meses de octubre, noviembre y diciembre para la obtención de agua dulce o destilada para consumo humano en esa zona.
