One of the clinical problems that the doctor in an emergency faces daily is the red eye. Most cases are relatively benign and self-limiting; however, some conditions are associated with high morbidity and are potentially threatening to vision and may initially manifest as a red eye. The doctor must be attentive to look for the high risk factors in the clinical history and the examination, to determine those cases that can be treated in the emergency without the intervention of the ophthalmologist and others that must be evaluated by the specialist urgently because of the imminent danger of visual loss. Primary congenital glaucoma (PCG) or primary infantile glaucoma (PIG) is a rare disease that presents a characteristic clinical picture with a clear identity. Because it is primary, it has no association with other syndromes and ocular anomalies, with increased intraocular pressure (IOP) due to poor development of the excretory part of the aqueous humor drainage, in the structures of the trabecular meshwork, ergo PCG is a product of poor development from the tissues of the angle of the anterior chamber that are embryologically derived from neural crest cells. This work aims to make a review of the person-centered surgery, the historical background, the basic principles of the surgical practice, and the profile of the humanist and humanitarian surgeon. It prioritizes the bond with the patient and the goals to be achieved in the curricular plans of surgeon training, and analyzed the importance of informed consent in surgery. The authors make a proposal to improve its effectiveness, emphasizing that, at all times, surgeons must accept with honesty and ethics, essential requirements for a good professional practice, offering his ability for the benefit of the patient.
