This article analyzes the use of the present subjunctive to express past events in journalistic publications of Peruvian digital newspapers. The aim of the research is to determine whether the favoring of the present subjunctive in the press is influenced by extralinguistic variables such as discursive genre and register. The data have been obtained from 120 digital texts of serious digital newspapers and 30 texts of digital «chicha» newspapers. From a probabilistic analysis, it is concluded that the statistically significant variable is the discursive genre. In addition, informative reports and news are identified as the texts that increase the probability of the use of the present subjunctive.

This article analyzes the use of the words venezolano and extranjero in a sample of news items taken from the website of the Peruvian newspaper Correo. The objective of the research is to demonstrate that these words are used as resources of verbal discourtesy. For this purpose, the context of their use was determined at the macrotextual level (topic, and types of discourse subjects) and microtextual level (types of utterances). According to the analysis, we identified that these voices in some contexts adopt a negative connotation, since through them the Venezuelan collective residing in Peru is associated with delinquency, which affects their group image. Likewise, although these voices are not associated with other types of negative values in other contexts, they do affect their desire for group affiliation.

En los textos periodísticos de la prensa peruana, se ha registrado el uso del presente de subjuntivo en alternancia con el pretérito imperfecto de subjuntivo en contextos que aluden a hechos pasados desde la perspectiva de la emisión de los textos. Como las publicaciones periodísticas suponen un mayor grado de planificación, la presente investigación buscar determinar los factores que expliquen la elección del presente de subjuntivo, la variante no estándar, por parte de los periodistas. Para ello, se eligió las variables género, edad, registro y género discursivo. Asimismo, se conformó un corpus, constituido por noticias, reportajes y columnas de opinión publicados en los sitios web de medios de comunicación digitales peruanos.
