Ligaria cuneifolia (Liga-Liga) is useec in traditional medicine in our country to treat different health disorders . Information about its pharmacologic properties is limited. In order to study this vegetal species we prepared a methanilic extract and performed identification by high performance liquid chromatography couled to a Phenomenex column Luna C18 with UV detection at 280 and 320 nm using electrospray ionization (ESI). The mobile phase was A: Water/ acetic acid 98/2 (v/v) and B: water/ acetonytrile/ acetic acid 49.5/50/0.5 with a flow speed of 1mL/min in a gradient program . Plant extracts (0-100 mglinL) were incubated in cell lines corresoding to colon cancer (HCT-116), breast cancer (MDA-MB-231), prostate cancer (PC-3), Liver cancer (Hep - G2), skin cancer (A-375) and ovarian cancer (OVCAR-3).The total content of polyphenols showed a significant amount of bioactive compounds. l...

Se estudio la capacidad antioxidante e inhibición de la peroxidación lipídica de diferentes concentraciones (12.5,25,50,75,100 ug/ml) del extracto metanólico de Ligaria cuneifolia. Los resultados obtenidos demuestran que el extracto metanólico de Ligaria cuneifolia tiene capacidad antioxidante que esta en relación directa con la concentración del extracto, obteniéndose un 92.93% de capacidad antioxidante para la mayor concentración de 100ug/ml El valor de IC50 obtenido fue de 41.16ug/ml Por otro lado, el extracto metanólico de Ligaria cuneifolia mostró también una elevada capacidad atrapadora del radical oxido nítrico (NO) obteniéndose un valor de 93.33% para la concentración de 100ug/ml. Azodycarbamide (ADA) was suggested as anti foaming agent or plastic expandeer for plastic in Germany in the fifties. Today it is one of the most used foaming agents. Another use of Azodycarbamideis in food industry for bread products where it is used as axydizing agent. In this study we have studied the toxicity of Azodycarbamide through reaction with Methyl—Tiazole Tetrazolium (MTT). Also, the reduction assay with NBT (Tetrazolium Nitro Blue) was used to determine the percenatage of production of superoxide anion . In these assays, murine macrophages of rats were incubated in RMPI-1640 medium with different concentrations of Azodycarbamide (3Oppm, 4Oppm y 5Oppm).
