Modern architecture is characterized by its flexibility and easy adaptation to changes. Light weight facades, thanks to the advantageous mutations that have appeared over the past years regarding building wraps, are an example of this. Ha transcurrido casi un siglo desde que la antigua fachada de la arquitectura estereotómica empezó a ser reemplazada por la actual envolvente tectónica y prefabricada, desde entonces se han dado mejoras importantes gracias a la tecnología industrial, a la evaluación de la calidad pero principalmente gracias a la acumulación e intercambio multidisciplinar del conocimiento, tomándose referencias de otras disciplinas para aplicarlas en la construcción.
