The mining sector in Peru is the most influential industry in the development of our economy, contributes 20% of fiscal revenues, contributes around 14% national GDP and 62% of exports. Mining activity produces prosperity in the areas where it is carried out, but undoubtedly generates an environmental impact like any other activity. In recent years, mining megaprojects have been paralyzed by the social conflict between companies and communities, who oppose the implementation of these basing their arguments on the pollution generated by this sector. El sector minero en el Perú es la industria más influyente en el desarrollo de nuestra economía, aporta un 20% de los ingresos fiscales, contribuye alrededor del 14% PBI nacional y el 62% de las exportaciones. La actividad minera produce prosperidad en las zonas donde se lleva a cabo, pero indudablemente genera un impacto ambiental como cualquier otra actividad. En los últimos años, megaproyectos mineros han quedado paralizados por el conflicto social entre las empresas y las comunidades, quiénes se oponen a la puesta en marcha de éstos basando sus argumentos en la contaminación que genera este sector.
