This health crisis, in addition to showing the precarious health system, has shown that the machismo that prevails in Peru is as serious as this pandemic; however, it has not been given due attention. In this way, it is considered essential to perceive how this state of emergency, as a risk factor, has reinforced sexist behaviors and gender roles in Peruvian society, and, at the same time, reflect on how this should be an opportunity to question and deconstruct society. The objective of this article is to analyze the elements to reflect on the COVID-19 pandemic from the point of view of masculinity and how these can provide tools to face this situation. Likewise, face it not only in a positive way but also proactively from a future perspective in which the practices are translated into cultures where care, peace, affection and equality are central elements in the lives of men

The COVID-19 pandemic has placed the health of humanity at the center of the global agenda. Likewise, by showing the structural situation of violence against women and diversity, it reflects the structural problems of human rights violations that we have as a society. In this sense, it has allowed us to see the area of ​​care as a central part of the economy, despite being classified as an invisible aspect. Today, when it has become more than evident that care jobs are life-preserving activities, it is necessary to discuss and rethink these jobs with the aim of subverting the power structures that run through them. Esta crisis sanitaria además de mostrar el sistema de salud precario ha evidenciado el machismo que impera en el Perú, es tan grave como esta pandemia; sin embargo, no se le ha puesto la atención debida. De esta manera, se considera que es indispensable percibir el cómo este estado de emergencia, como factor de riesgo ha reforzado los comportamientos machistas y los roles de género de la sociedad peruana, y, al mismo tiempo, reflexionar cómo debería ser esta una oportunidad para cuestionar y deconstruir la sociedad.
