Objective: To determine pregnancy and newborn outcome in women over 35 years old. Design: Retrospective, transversal, case-control study, from January 1 through December 31, 1999. Setting: Obstetrical Service, Ica EsSalud "Félix Torrealva Gutiérrez" Hospital. Material and Methods: Two hundred and seventy-six pregnant women aged 35 or over were compared with a similar number of 20 to 34 year-old pregnant women. Results: During 1999 1343 deliveries were attended, 267 belonging to 35 year-old or older women (19,9%). Median age was 37,8, and 27,7 in the control group. Median length of gestation was 38,3 weeks, versus 39,5 weeks in the control group. Cesarean section was performed in 29,6% of deliveries, 19,1% in the control group. OBJECTIVE: To establish the most common gynecological pathology diagnosed by video laparoscopy. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Of the approximately 253 diagnostic videolaparoscopias made in the "Felix Gutierrez Torrealva" EsSalud, Ica Hospital between March 1996 and July 2004, 236 cases were evaluated. RESULTS: Of the 236 interventions evaluated, 125 (52.9%) were for infertility, 32 (13.6%) for chronic pelvic pain, 31 (13.1%) for ovarian cyst, 31 (13.1%) for tubal blockages in May (2.1%) for ectopic pregnancy. Mainly operative findings were: 42 (17.8%) cases of adherence syndrome, 42 (17.8%) of polycystic ovarian disease, 41 (17.4%) of endometriosis, 40 (16.9%) for pelvic inflammatory disease Chronic, 32 (13.6%) of leiomyomatosis and tubal occlusion, 32 (13.6%) of hydrosalpinx. Estudio retrospectivo de casos y controles de gestantes adolescentes atendidas en el Hospital IV “Augusto Hernández Mendoza”, EsSalud, en Ica, Perú, entre el 1 de julio de 2013 y el 30 de junio de 2014, con el fin de establecer la incidencia, riesgos y complicaciones del embarazo y parto en las adolescentes. Se estudió 177 adolescentes que tuvieron su parto en el hospital y se comparó sus características con un grupo control de 177 gestantes de 20 a 34 años. La información se obtuvo las características obstétricas y perinatales de las historias clínicas de las pacientes y registros de partos. En las adolescentes las complicaciones encontradas fueron: anemia (18,2%) e infecciones urinarias (14,1%), en tanto, las enfermedades hipertensivas (17,5%) lo fueron en las gestantes mayores.
