In the present thesis, Technical efficiency was evaluated in EsSalud -Health Network, during 2006-2010 period, using the Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA), based on linear mathematical programming analysis and calculating the efficiency indices in eight decision units that shaped the envelope of efficiency . As welfare inputs: drug use, drug laboratory, use of X-rays, and beds available were considered, and as a result of care (outputs): number of doctor visits, number of patients day, and number of hospital discharges. With the aim to minimize the consumption of inputs (input orientation), and maximizing outputs (output orientation) through the establishment of a limit on relative Technical Efficiency and Global Technical Efficiency rates, Pure Technical Efficiency and Scale Efficiency.
