The objective of this research was to analyze the psychometric properties of the second edition of the Beck Depression Inventory (BDI-II), adapted in Argentina. For this purpose, a Peruvian sample of 400 people attended in an outpatient clinic of a specialized center in mental health in Lima, the age of the participants was between 17 and 71 years old. The results obtained show that the Cronbach coefficient of reliability was high (alfa= .93). It was observed that of a total of 21 items of IDB II, none was eliminated, thus leaving the total number of items for the final test. The content validity index was high, an Aiken V value of .99 was observed, obtaining 100% of valid items. The objective of this research was to establish the difference in the magnitude of Early Maladaptive Schemas (EMT) in clinical samples, 136 participants with and 135 without symptoms of depression, as well as to evaluate the association between symptoms of depression and EMT. The sampling was intentional non-probabilistic, with 125 men and 146 women, treated in a hospital specialized in mental health, prior to diagnosis. The instruments used were: Young's Schema Questionnaire-Brief Version (YSQ-S3) and the Beck Depression Inventory II (BDI-II). Los esquemas disfuncionales tempranos (EDT) son patrones generales que guían la vida de las personas, manifestándose en diversas alteraciones psicológicas, un problema álgido en la salud mental mundial es la depresión, en ésta se presenta la sensación de vacío, tristeza, disminución de la vitalidad e incapacidad de disfrute. De ahí, que la presente investigación tenga por objetivo conocer las diferencias en la magnitud de los esquemas disfuncionales tempranos presentes en una personas con y sin depresión; para ello se trabajó con 100 participantes atendidos en consulta externa de un hospital especializado en salud mental, 51 con depresión y 49 sin depresión.
