The increasing number of electronic mobile devices like tablets and smartphones, with capacity to tape and report audiovisual contents, has made a considerable impact in reporter’s work. The possibility of taping live images without having to move a TV camera in courtroom, o even better, being able to transmit news, perceptions or opinions during judicial proceedings by Social Media (over all Twitter) not only has changed the way in which journalists work, but it has also suppose a series of benefits and risks for the judicial proceeding itself. In the same way that in the late 1990s, the O. J. Simpson trial (USA) wasthe reference for the debate on the access of TV cameras in Courts, today, the Oscar Pistorius (South Africa) is the field of proofs to visualize those changes that Twitter has introduced in the journalistic coverage of Courts.

We are going to develop a theoretical frame to understand the role that campaigns would have in a context of political malaise. Considering the multidimensionality of the discontent, we are going to conceive the disaffection like the component more related with what Putnam & Goss called ‘the previous conditions for an effective democracy’. Taking into account the results of other studies surrounding the democratic effects of the campaigns, we will suggest that the electoral advertising could help us to improve the civic sense of the citizens from an attitudinal dimension, strengthening our democracies.

Despite the apparent neutrality of digital platforms, they exert a significant influence on the mediation of information, which raises questions about their responsibility to guarantee the right to information and democratic sustainability. This article analyses the intermediary role of digital platforms, considering that their presence has transformed the model of public communication. Taking as a starting point Desantes' (1994) defence of information as a human and social good, which engenders a duty for those who issue it, this research argues that digital platforms, like media, must assume a structural responsibility with information.
