In this study we analyze the relations between happiness, depression and human benevolence beliefs in a group of major people who live in asylums (24) and others who live with their families (38). We use Lima’s happiness scale, Yesavage’s Geriatric depression scale and Belief in human scale. We found that there were no significant differences between two groups of major adults in depression levels, but in happiness, positive sense of life and satisfaction with life, non institutionalized older adults had higher punctuations than major people who lived in asylums.

This work sets out historical information about the development of Latin American psychology over the base of education. It reviews the contribution from education to Latin American psychology, and especially, the creation of experimental psychology laboratories in schools and educational and psychopedagogical institutions, where experimental pedagogy laboratories operate, which were a relevant antecedent for psychology’s institutionalization through the creation of Programs and Professional Schools.

The objective of this study is to determine validity and reliability of the Mobile Phone Dependency Test (CPDT), in a 22 items Likert scale-based instrument. The Test was administered to two samples, a public university (N=1044) and a private university (N=356) in the Peruvian city of Arequipa. Validity was determined using an exploratory factor analysis. Three factors were identified: abstinence and tolerance (α=0,901), abuse and problems with impulse control (α=0,853), and problems with excessive mobile phone use (α=0,853). Additionally, percentile ranks were created for both public and private universities.
