The latest revision of the DSM-V, the evaluation of identity is included as a criterion of personality disorders. On the other hand, borderline disorder is one of the most severe of this group of psychopathologies, due to its emotional and behavioral impact. Because of this, the present study aimed to identify the relationship between identity diffusion and borderline disorder traits. For this, a systematic search was carried out following the PRISMA indications in the Scopus, Proquest, Apa PsycNet and Ebsco databases. Ten studies that met the inclusion and exclusion criteria were analyzed. The results indicated that identity diffusion is more latent during adolescence and that it can remain so until adulthood.
