La presente investigación estudió el impacto que tuvo el gasto social en la pobreza de la región Áncash durante el periodo 2001-2021, de donde se planteó la hipótesis de que el gasto social redujo la pobreza en la región ancashina durante el periodo de estudio. En la metodología, el tipo de investigación fue básica, con diseño no experimental, longitudinal y explicativo, cuyos resultados se obtuvieron del análisis histórico de tendencias, y el método de mínimos cuadrados ordinarios estableciéndose un modelo econométrico tipo log-log para determinar la elasticidad pobreza-gasto social. De los resultados obtenidos se confirmó la hipótesis de que el gasto social redujo la pobreza en el departamento de Ancash, teniendo un impacto más significativo en la pobreza extrema que en la pobreza total, cuyas elasticidades fueron de -1.72 y – 0.98 respectivamente.
