With the purpose of determinate the antimicrobial activity of the Papacarie® in the time indicated by the manufacturer (30seconds), samples were taken from caused to decay weave of temporary pieces without commitment to pulpar of five children of the school Andrés Rázuri, to analyze in vitro the sample with the product. Taking into account that the product requires to be in contact with the sample a short time, discs with the Papacarie® became absorbed and faced this by 15, 30 and 60 seconds, the discs were retired and the sample in Agar Mitis Salivarius Bacitracina was seeded. The obtained counts of the controls made to 24, 48 and 72 hours, were analyzed with T Student statistical analysis. The results demonstrated that with the used methodology a significant difference between the antimicrobial activity and the indicated application times does not exist.

The objective of this research was to compare the antibacterial activity in vitro of the hydroalcoholic extracts of three medicinal plants: Plantago major L. (plantago), Erythroxylum novogranatense var truxillense (trujillo coca) and Camellia sinensis (green tea) by the agar disk diffusion method on five strains of oral bacteria: Streptococcus mutans ATCC 25175, Lactobacillus acidophilus. ATCC 314, Actinomyces viscosus ATCC 15987, Prevotella melaninogenica ATCC 25845 and Fusobacterium nucleatum ATCC 25586. The hydroalcoholic extracts were obtained from total active principles from the dry leaves of each plant, by maceration in alcohol with ethyl alcohol at 70 % and subsequent evaporation of the solvent with the use of a rotary evaporator. Introducción: Los brackets metálicos utilizados en ortodoncia pueden liberar iones metálicos, como níquel y cromo, al entrar en contacto con sustancias acuosas presentes en la cavidad oral.
