The objective of this literature review is to report dentoalveolar and skeletal changes of the mandibular arch after rapid maxillary expansion (RMS) in mixed dentitions. An electronic search was carried out in the following databases: Medline/PubMed, Scopus, LILACS as well as manual search in the main orthodontic journals (American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics, The Angle Orthodontics, Seminars in Orthodontics) and Google Scholar. The eligibility criteria included all studies related to the topic being reviewed, in English and Spanish, without restrictions on the year of publication. Determina la percepción estética del perfil facial por estudiantes de pregrado de odontología de una universidad peruana. La investigación fue de tipo descriptivo, observacional y de corte transversal, realizada con una muestra de 75 estudiantes de pregrado pertenecientes a la Facultad de Odontología de la Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos. Se diseñó y validó una encuesta para medir la percepción estética de seis perfiles faciales (protrusión/retrusión maxilar, mandibular, bimaxilar y recto). El análisis de los datos se realizó mediante estadísticas descriptivas y pruebas de comparación utilizando el software SPSS v.28.
