En el presente estudio se evaluó un total de 792 radiografías panorámicas de pacientes entre 7 y 18 años de edad que acudieron a los Servicios de Odontopediatría y Ortodoncia en el Departamento de Estomatología del Centro Médico Naval durante enero 2003 a julio 2004, con el fin de encontrar la prevalencia y distribución de agenesias dentarias y dientes supernumerarios. Los resultados mostraron 77 casos de agenesia dentaria (9,7%) y 34 casos de dientes supernumerarios (4,3%). En cuanto a la distribución de la agenesia dentaria según género se apreció que 39 casos (50,6%) fueron del género femenino y 38 del género masculino (49,4%), no existiendo diferencia estadísticamente significativa. Según la cantidad de piezas afectadas 34 pacientes presentaron 1 agenesia (44,2%) y 23 pacientes 2 agenesias (29,9%), las zonas más afectadas fueron los sextantes superior posterior (26% ...

The purpose of this study was to evaluate variation of superficial morphology, histological structure and enamel color of vestibular side of anterior dental pieces exposed to different carbamide peroxide concentrations and exposure times. Our research was taken on 21 extracted teeth that where divided in three groups and subjected to different concentrations of carbamide peroxide gel which were : Group 1 with 5% concentration, group 2 with 10% concentration and group 3 with 20% concentration. The vestibular side of each tooth was divided into 4 sections, each of which ones was exposed to 5, 20 and 40 hours of whitening respectively, while the remaining section was the control group. The results were subjected to the Friedman test to establish statistical differences.
