The purpose of this research is to determine whether there are differences between managers’ perceptions about the characteristics of a successful manager. It is based on Schein’s studies of gender role stereotypes and the characteristics required to be considered a successful manager. The hypotheses, one for men and one for women, are that managers will perceive that successful ones have attitudes, characteristics and temperaments that are more commonly attributed to men in general than to women in general. The slightly modified Schein Descriptive Index questionnaire to a sample of 268 managers working in Lima. Interclass correlation coefficients (r’) were calculated from two random group analysis of variance of the 92 descriptive items. It seeks to find the reasons why development projects fail focusing the analysis on the initial stage of strategic networks, considering that these projects conceptually fall within the definition of strategic networks. For this, the so-called grounded theory method of analysis is used, which allows the theory to be "discovered" from very detailed descriptions of what is observed. The unit of analysis are economic development projects financed with international funds, of which a small sample is taken. Estudio que sistematiza la experiencia educativa de la Escuela de Administración de Negocios para Graduados (ESAN) entre 1977 y 1982, especialmente la dirigida al sector público, a fin de identificar las expectativas del funcionario público respecto a esta institución, realizar un diagnóstico de sus preferencias académicas en cuanto a áreas temáticas y modalidades y, por último, obtener el perfil socioeducativo básico de dichos funcionarios. Este examen específico del funcionario público permite determinar su procedencia y destacar aquellas entidades (clasificadas por sectores y por tipo de entidad: empresa, ministerio, institución autónoma, etc.) que han ejercido mayor demanda sobre los programas de capacitación de ESAN.
