Se sabe bien que la estabilidad es el requisito de seguridad más importante para las naves. Uno debe tener una buena información sobre la estabilidad de la nave en la fase del diseño preliminar para reducir riesgos. La estabilidad inicial de la nave es un criterio importante y puede evaluarse estrechamente en términos de los parámetros de forma y del centro vertical de gravedad. En este estudio, usando algunos datos de naves, se deducen las formulaciones aproximadas por medio del análisis de regresión para los cálculos expresados en términos de los parámetros del diseño preliminar de la nave que pueden proporcionar los cálculos aproximados de GM fácilmente. It is well known that stability is the most important safety requirement for ships. One must have good information about the stability of the ship in the preliminary design phase to reduce risks. The initial stability of the ship is an important criterion and can be closely evaluated in terms of the shape parameters and the vertical center of gravity. In this study, using some ship data, approximate formulations are deduced through regression analysis for calculations expressed in terms of the ship's preliminary design parameters that can easily provide the approximate GM calculations. Thus designers can provide the stability of the ship in the preliminary design phase and also a set of appropriate design parameters to improve the stability of the ship that can be easily determined.

The use of the Potential Theory to evaluate the Resistance to the Advance of Fishing Ships in waters calms, it is investigated, with the main objective of obtaining comparative results that allow to evaluate the acting of the theoretical method for the use in the process of the preliminary project. The simplicity and speed of the algorithm of the computer provides a valuable tool that can be used to carry out analysis of different types in ways of fine ships, including ships with bulb prow, and to obtain qualitative results at a cost very low. This way the interference of the different parts of the hull can be analyzed and the forms of the ship optimized to obtain a minimum resistance to the advance for formation of waves.

La utilización de la Teoría Potencial para evaluar la Resistencia al Avance de Buques Pesqueros en aguas calmas, es investigada. con el principal objetivo de obtener resultados comparativos que permitan evaluar el desempeño del método teórico para el uso en el proceso del proyecto preliminar. La simplicidad y rapidez del algoritmo computacional provee una valiosa herramienta que puede ser usada para realizar análisis de diferentes tipos de formas de buques finos, incluyendo buques con proa de bulbo. y obtener resultados cualitativos a un costo computacional muy bajo. De esta forma la interferencia de las diferentes partes del casco puede ser analizada y las formas del buque optimizadas para obtener una mínima resistencia al avance por formación de olas.
