La denuncia fue interpuesta por la madre de la agraviada, y la investigación fue asumida por la Quinta Fiscalía Provincial Penal del Distrito Fiscal de Lima Norte, que formalizó la acusación el 30 de abril de 2016. En esa misma fecha se solicitó prisión preventiva, la cual fue declarada infundada por el Séptimo Juzgado Penal. La investigación continuó con la recopilación de declaraciones y pericias psicológicas, culminando en una sentencia absolutoria emitida el 29 de enero de 2018. Ante la absolución, la fiscalía interpuso un recurso de apelación. El Décimo Quinto Juzgado de Investigación Preparatoria revocó dicha decisión y condenó al acusado a 10 años de pena privativa de libertad el 13 de marzo de 2018. Esta condena fue apelada por el sentenciado, pero la Tercera Sala Penal de Apelaciones Permanente de la Corte Superior de Justicia de Lima Norte confirmó la condena el 5 de octubre de 2021, dejando firme la pena impuesta.
