Se estima que este sector es responsable de la generación de empleo para más de tres millones de personas, quienes se desempeñan en una amplia red de más de 23,000 talleres artesanales que están debidamente registrados. Estos talleres no solo representan una fuente importante de trabajo, sino que también desempeñan un papel clave en la preservación de técnicas tradicionales y la producción de productos artesanales de alto valor cultural y económico. La investigación actual se concentra en el diseño y evaluación de viabilidad para la creación de un Centro de Integración, Producción Artesanal y Gastronomía Sostenible en el distrito de Catacaos, en la provincia de Piura. El objetivo fundamental del proyecto es impulsar el crecimiento económico y cultural del territorio, resaltando la rica tradición artesanal y gastronómica que distingue a Catacaos. El trabajo de investigación comienza con un estudio detallado en relación a las condiciones actuales del distrito, con el fin de identificar tanto las necesidades existentes como las oportunidades que permiten la viabilidad de este proyecto. Como fase preliminar, se llevó a cabo una revisión de iniciativas similares en otras regiones, con el objetivo de extraer aprendizajes relevantes y adaptarlos al contexto específico de Catacaos.

It is estimated that this sector is responsible for generating employment for more than three million people, who work within an extensive network of over 23,000 registered artisanal workshops. These workshops not only represent a significant source of employment but also play a key role in preserving traditional techniques and producing artisanal goods of high cultural and economic value. The current research focuses on the design and feasibility evaluation of establishing a Centre for Sustainable Integration, Artisanal Production, and Gastronomy in the district of Catacaos, located in the province of Piura. The main goal of the project is to foster the region's economic and cultural development, showcasing the rich artisanal and culinary heritage that defines Catacaos. The research begins with a detailed study of the current conditions of the district, aiming to identify both the existing needs and the opportunities that underpin the feasibility of this project.
