La muestra estuvo conformada por 72 familiares cuidadores de adultos oncológicos; a quienes se les aplicaron dos instrumentos: el primero sobre la percepción de relación de ayuda de la enfermera, el segundo sobre el afrontamiento del familiar cuidador. Los resultados obtenidos evidenciaron que el 83% tuvieron una percepción de relación de ayuda de la enfermera positiva, mientras que el 17% manifestaron una percepción de relación de ayuda negativa. Respecto al afrontamiento presentado por los familiares cuidadores de adultos oncológicos fue calificada de manera positiva en un 57%, mientras que el 43% manifestaron un afrontamiento negativo. Según el estadístico tau-b de Kendall se consideró un nivel de relación directa (Tau-b=.289) de grado medio y estadísticamente significativo (p˂.05) entre la percepción de relación de ayuda de la enfermera y el afrontamiento del familiar cuidador.
