Se aplicó el test Apgar familiar para la disfunción familiar y la escala geriátrica de depresión de Yesavage RESULTADOS: La frecuencia de disfunción familiar en pacientes adultos mayores con depresión fue 46.6% y en 24.1% en los pacientes no depresivos con diferencia estadísticas (p=0.010). Se halló un odss ratio de 2.74 con un IC95% DE 1.24 a 6.05, indicando que los adultos mayores que pertenecen familias disfuncionales incrementan casi dos veces más el riesgo de padecer depresión, comparado con los que pertenecen a familias funcionales CONCLUSIONES: La frecuencia de disfunción familiar fue mayor en los adultos mayores con depresión, donde la disfunción familiar se asoció como factor de riesgo de depresión.

RESULTS: The frequency of dysfunction family in patients adults older with depression was 46.6% and in 24.1% in those patients not depressive with difference statistics (p = 0.010). We found an odss ratio of 2.74 with a 95 CI 1.24 to 6.05%. indicating that the adults older that belong families dysfunctional increases almost two times more the risk of suffering depression, compared with which belong to families functional.
