description Determinar la efectividad del tratamiento con dexametasona intravítreo en pacientes con edema macular diabético captados mediante el centro oftalmológico “OFTALMORETIN”, en el periodo 2017 - 2022. Material y métodos: Se llevó a cabo un estudio observacional, analítico de cohorte única retrospectiva de antes y después en el que se incluyeron a 28 pacientes con edema macular diabético, según criterios de selección los cuales se dividieron en función de la efectividad de la dexametasona intravítreo; se calculó el chi cuadrado y se determinó la efectividad clínica. Resultados: La frecuencia de diabetes mellitus controlada fue significativamente mayor en el grupo con mejoría clínica (p<0.05), la mejoría de categorías de agudeza visual antes y después del tratamiento con dexametasona intravítrea en pacientes con edema macular diabético fue significativa (p<0.05), la efectividad clínica en pacientes con edema macular expuestos a dexametasona intravítrea fue de 50%, con un 55% de pacientes no refractarios a tratamiento, la mejoría de hallazgos tomográficos en pacientes con edema macular expuestos a dexametasona intravítrea fue de 75%. Conclusión: El tratamiento con dexametasona intravítreo es efectivo en pacientes con edema macular diabético.

Material and methods: An observational, analytical, retrospective single cohort study of before and after was carried out, in which 28 patients with diabetic macular edema were included, according to selection criteria which were divided according to the effectiveness of dexamethasone. intravitreal; chi square was calculated and clinical effectiveness was determined.
