For the following research an expert system to evaluate investigation capacities in professors of the National University of San Martin has been developed. In order to achieve procedures that permits the investigation competences evaluation. Rules and conditional controls were developed; these are joined cognitive and attitudinal elements from the professionals. All of this has been possible by the methodological principles of knowledge engineering and the artificial intelligence letting us develop application for expert task applying. This study seeks to reach an expert evaluation rigor, although the problem has been carried by using a basic test which permits identify the university investigation competence level in any applicant. The solution strategies to this developed Expert System due on its logical rules which make conclusions for each answer given by the user. Measuring of investigation competence level in a person is very difficult, due the quantity of factors involved on it, nevertheless, an automat test is an valid process and relevant for decision-making process of an organization or institution. Finally, this research is a technological solution that integrates attitudinal and conceptual approach of the applicant by using a software web, which could be update and extend according to future necessities
