Sumario: | The main objective of this research was to develop a cream based on the hydroalcoholic extract of orange flowers of Tropaeolum majus L. "mastuerzo" and to evaluate its effect in vitro. For the evaluation of photoprotective capacity, two steps were performed. In the first one, the vegetable sample was collected, washed and dried, followed by grinding to obtain powder, followed by the percolation method using alcohol of 70 ° GL as the solvent. The hydroalcoholic extract was obtained by performing different physicalchemical and by the methodology described by Sayre and Mansur et al, determining the Sun protection factor (SPF) being 8.3801, therefore in the second stage was developed the photoprotective formulation, for evaluation in vitro (F2) containing only extract without UV filter and one last one (F3) containing UV filters plus extract, which were subjected to organoleptic and physical quality controls in addition, SPF was determined in vitro, evaluating its efficacy pre and post irradiation, obtaining values of 23.5; 1; 91.5 and 2; 1; 25.75 respectively for the 3 samples performed. In conclusion, the hydroalcoholic extract of the orange flowers of Tropaeolum majus L. has a high SPF according to the FDA, but in contribution with organic sunscreens included in the formulation for the development of a photoprotective cream |
